How To Make Vegan Cashew Mozzarella Recipe

A dairy-free, vegan alternative to traditional mozzarella made with cashews.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup raw cashews, soaked in water overnight
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup nutritional yeast
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1 tsp agar agar powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Drain the soaked cashews and add them to a blender with the water, nutritional yeast, garlic clove, and salt. Blend until smooth and creamy.

  2. Transfer the mixture to a small pot and sprinkle the agar agar powder on top. Whisk everything together.

  3. Heat the pot over medium heat and whisk occasionally until the mixture thickens and becomes stretchy, about 5 to 10 minutes.

  4. Transfer the mozzarella mixture to a small dish lined with parchment paper. Smooth out the top and let it cool for a few minutes.

  5. Once the mozzarella has cooled and set, slice it into pieces and use as desired.
